Philippe DeLacy was fortunate to have survived his birth. He was found as a newborn infant in a bombed out building on July 25, 1917, during WW-I, in Nancy, France. His mother had been killed and had he not been discovered by an American Army nurse, he most certainly would have perished. The nurse, Miss Edith DeLacy, adopted the orphaned infant, and brought him to the United States when she returned from the war, and raised him as her own. Phillip was a stunningly handsome child. He caught the eye of a fashion photographer at a very early age, who launched him on a career as a fashion model for children's clothing. At age 4, his pictures were seen by a motion picture casting director, who cast Philippe in his first movie, "Without Benefit of Clergy", in 1921. He continued making motion pictures until 1930, and among his credits were two major hits, "Peter Pan" (1924), and "Blue Boy" (1926). Like many child movie stars, Philippe never made the transition from child actor to adult, and by his early teens, he had lost his boyish charm and his acting career faded. He remained in the movie industry as a cinamatographer and director. Philippe died in Carmel, California on July 29, 1995.
